Creating, Opening and Saving Documents
Create a New Document
To create a new document, choose File > New from the main menu.
You can also use one of the samples that come together with the program. Those samples can be found in the Design Gallery and Content Panel. Once you choose a sample, it opens as a new document that you can edit.
Open a Document
To open an existing document, select File > Open and navigate to your document. Or double-click on this document in Finder.
In order to open one of the recently edited documents, use the File > Open Recent menu. Alternatively, search for your document in the Design Gallery. Choose Window > Design Gallery from the main menu and click on Recent at the top.
Save a Document
To save a document, choose File > Save in the menu.
Select the Default App in Finder
The Letters application might be present on your computer along with Art Text. Since they both can open Art Text documents, Finder may use a wrong app when you double-click on a file.
Open with a Particular App only Once
In order to open a particular document with a particular application, right-click on that document in Finder and use the Open With menu to choose the app.
Specify a New Default App for a Particular Document
You can set up which program should open the specified document by default (e.g., by double-clicking in Finder). Right-click on that document and select Get Info. The Info pane will open up. We are going to use the "Open with" section.
To select a new default app, use the drop-down menu. Originally, the menu shows the name of the current default app.
Specify a New Default App Globally
You can set up which program should open the specified document type by default (e.g., by double-clicking in Finder). That program will be associated with all documents of that type.
To select a new default program, select its name in the Info pane as described in the section above. Then click the Change All… button.
