The Side Displacement Effect
The Side Displacement effect is similar to the Displacement effect. The difference is that with Side Displacement, the object becomes distorted on a specified side. Patterns for the Side Displacement effect are based on textures. This effect is one of the Distortion effects.
To apply the Side Displacement effect, open the Effects section in the Inspector. Then, click the plus button and select Side Displacement.
In order to modify the effect settings, click on the corresponding gear icon.
1 - Rotate the texture.
2 - Offset the texture in relation to the object.
3 - The library of textures. Click on it to select a different texture.
4 - Inverse the texture.
5 - Change the scale of the texture.
6 - Change the direction from which the distortion should be applied to the object.
7 and 8 - Adjust how much of the object's body should be distorted.
9 - Increasing this parameter spreads the distortion over the whole object's perimeter. In other words, larger distortion on a particular object side gradually turns into smaller distortion applied to all sides.
10 - Decreasing this parameter decreases the amount of texture details that are used for distortion.
